.NET, ASync and you

Laptops already routinely have 4 or more CPUs and in a few years time they will probably have a couple of dozen. However, Software doesn’t automatically make use of more than 1 CPU, it takes programmers to do that and in doing so they make their software run faster, setting them apart from the competition.

So how can you make your software run faster? This ses- sion will briefly show the async solutions that .NET has embraced and then take you through to today and the Task Parallel Library and the C#5 async/await combination. The TPL cannot wave a magic wand over all the difficulties, but it does go a long way to removing the grunt work associated with asynchronous programming.
